The Relax Attack Jazz Series continues July 14 with the Ben Schmidt-Swartz Group, featuring one of Chicago’s most versatile and inventive tenor players. A prolific saxophonist, woodwindist, composer, and educator, Schmidt-Swartz moves fluidly between avant-garde explorations and bebop tradition, bringing a dynamic, genre-blurring approach to the bandstand.
Joined by Grayson Nye on keyboards and Ethan Bouwsma on drums, the group delivers a sharp, exploratory set rooted in deep musical chemistry.
