Jameson Scriver's new quintet explores modern jazz compositions, as well as classics. The quintet's musical mission statement takes its name from one of their songs "Years That Rhyme." Inspired by the phrase "History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme," the bands' compositions reflect emotional, picturesque moments: losing a loved one, walking barefoot on Chicago's concrete beaches, listening to someone you care about. Each composition is written for a member of the band, making the music inextricably connected to the personalities that bring it to life.
