Mutual Interest w/ DJ Bart Lazar

Starting as a radio disc jockey in 1977, Bart Lazar was part of the first wave of punk, post punk and new wave DJs at WHPK-FM in Chicago. He combines over 50 years of rock and roll as an indie, punk, new wave and progressive pop vinyl only DJ.

Bart explores the harmonious cacophony of combining sounds crossing genres and generations. He plays old music that sounds new, new music that sounds old and great music that sounds great. Listeners will encounter the British Invasion, garage, pre and post punk progressive pop, indie, psych and more, and includes lesser known Chicago artists, unique cover songs, spaghetti westerns and other surprises.

Bart has performed at Taste of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sportsman’s Club (where he has had a multi-year residency), Empty Bottle, Big Star, Delilah’s, Club Foot, Ludlow Liquors and The Crocodile (Seattle).

He is the author of “Declaration of (Dis) Interest: musings on modern music from an old punk rocker”, available on Amazon, covers music for New City and at his blog www.oldpunksrule.com. When the sun comes out and the moon goes down, he turns into an attorney specializing in trademark, advertising and data privacy law.
