CHIRP Night w/ Kelsey Montanez, BassKase

Every 1st Tuesday is CHIRP Night at the Whistler — an evening of CHIRP-curated local artists, Whistler cocktails, and the good feeling of supporting independent radio.

In the midst of rock and roll's ever-shifting tides, Kelsey Montanez’s voice surges like a lightning bolt, a thrilling new voice that crackles with raw energy and enigmatic allure. According to The Chicago Music Guide, “Montanez has a voice that can match the beloved Amy Winehouse, causing the hair on the back of your neck to stand up."

BassKase is the nom de guerre of producer/bassist Curtis Ruptash. Co-leader of Canadian avant-funk dub collage artists Guerilla Welfare, dub disrupters/audio manipulators Peabody & Sherman, dark wave/experimental pop group Marrow Thieves, ambient/glitch Frostback and others.

CHIRP is a volunteer-driven, community radio station that focuses on music, arts, and culture. The station can be heard on the north side of Chicago at 107.1FM and worldwide at chirpradio.org. The station broadcasts live every day from 6am-midnight from their studios in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood.
