CHIRP Night returns to The Whistler with live music 96 Cougar and 8 Bit Creeps.
Join us for an evening of CHIRP-curated local artists, Whistler cocktails, and the good feeling of supporting independent radio.
96 Cougar plays a deep-fried blend of punk rock with heavy alt-country and psych influences, kind of like if Ween grew up covering the Minutemen. Their most recent album “Forklift Rodeo” was released in March 2025, via Already Dead Tapes and Records.
8-bit crEEps are a psych-wave quartet in a polygamist marriage with new-wave synths, fuzzed-out guitars and driving beats. The band has been experimenting with these sonic elements and conceptual storytelling since 2016. Inspired by a lone nameless figure that haunted dimly lit Chicago arcades in the early 90's. Their dilated pupils were equal parts apathy and anxiety. Desperately foraging in the ripped pocket of a jean jacket for one last quarter. These pixelated memories and square-wave soundtracks left strange impressions on young minds. This is where you'll find those impressions. We ask that you attribute any defective material to the stresses of nepotism, capitalism and cognitive dissonance. That is to say, come on friends! Let's party!
