In Andrew Sudhibhasilp’s jazz trio, melody takes priority over form. On his forthcoming album Rituals, his spare guitar lines—ancient, sincere, almost madrigal-like—float over drums and bass that favor texture over groove, capturing the album’s quiet celebration of repetition and meditation. The music conjures twilit, shadowy landscapes, as in “Weaving,” which moves with the steady drift of an endlessly winding path. He’s joined by Ben Dillinger on bass and Tim Daisy on drums.
