Cosmic Son

↳ Our first “Weekly Free” release comes from former Chicagoan and current-LA resident Jeremiah Chiu. As Cosmic Son, he steps into the spotlight after years of being a crucial side-man in Chicago groups such as Icy Demons, Chandeliers, Axis:Sova, and currently in Nedelle Torrisi’s band in Los Angeles. Utilizing analog electronics and melodies draped in a vocoder wash, Cosmic Son delivers cut after cut of synth-pop goodness. These songs — and all the Weekly Free releases to follow — were recorded live at The Whistler.

“Live recordings are a great time capsule,” says Jeremiah, “you get an opportunity to reflect and to hear your previous self trying things out: playing, experimenting, taking a chance (that chance not always working out), nothing to hide behind. It’s easy to forget that art and music — and the process of creating — is embarrassing, but it’s that embarrassment or vulnerability that makes it special… finding that single moment of magic.”
