Three Sounds

On Thursday, October 12th three of Chicago’s most fervid jazz record collectors, Scottie McNiece (a recent transplant to Bridgeport), King Hippo aka Alejandro Ayala (from Humboldt Park) and Joe Bryl (a long suffering resident of the Back of the Yards) will invade the hallowed hipster haunting grounds of Chicago’s North Side scenesters and nocturnal nighthawks at the Whistler to unleash a torrent of Jazz vinyl treasures that will move and groove you way past the midnight hour. This aural journey carries the spirit of the 1967 Blue Note record by The Three Sounds titled “Vibrations” (which featured Gene Harris on piano and organ, Andrew Simpkins on bass and Kalil Madi on drums).

Expect the unexpected in this rebirth of the cool that when our trio of vinyl archaeologists lay down some prime cuts from the vast spectrum of Jazz-related musical styles including Modal Jazz, Soul Jazz, Spiritual Jazz, Jazz Funk, Abstract Jazz, Word Jazz, Jazz Blues, Afro-Cuban Jazz, Jazz Dance, Nu Jazz, Avant-Garde Jazz, Bebop, Free Jazz, Jazz Fusion and other styles from around the globe.

As noted Soul Jazz vibraphone player Roy Ayers stated, “The true beauty of music is that it connects people.” Drop in with us and get connected.
