Every Tuesday we present Chicago’s top jazz artists in a lively atmosphere, full of cocktail-shaking and spirited conversation.
Daniel Thatcher is a singular Chicago-based bassist and composer, whose solid and supportive presence has been felt and heard among this city’s richly varied and vibrant communities for the last 15 years and counting. His sensibilities encompass the broader spectrum of traditional and modern modern music, which allows him to move freely between the worlds of jazz and improvised music, contemporary/classical, pop, and experimental/rock music.
With his band Storytime, Daniel seeks to share music that organically blends his many influences yet has it’s own identity. In balancing the subtly complex intermingling of melody and form with the unique interpreting and improvising voices of his long-time friends and collaborators, Daniel’s “songs without words” tell a story.
