Every Tuesday we present Chicago’s top jazz artists in a lively atmosphere, full of cocktail-shaking and spirited conversation.
The Samuel Mösching Quartet focuses on his original music. The music ranges from earthy grooves à la Jeff Parker to harmonic landscapes influences by Hindemith, Brahms and Schumann. For the concert at the Whistler he teams up with saxophonist Mai Sugimoto, Jeremiah Hunt on bass and drummer Nick Kabat.
“Mösching’s upbringing found him bouncing around Europe, studying the classical canon in his native Switzerland as a youth, then going to London at 18 to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He returned to Switzerland to matriculate at Lucerne University. While there, he began to synthesize his love of both classical music and jazz.” —Jack Walton, South Bend Tribune
