Every Sunday, The Whistler and North Coast Brewing team up to present our favorite jazz artists.
Black Diamond is an adventurous group that features the music of saxophonists Artie Black and Hunter Diamond. The group’s instrumentation creates a space for high-energy improvisation and melodicism. Though heavily influenced by jazz music of the 1950s and 60s, the quartet’s compositions feature elements of contemporary folk and world music.
Artie Black – tenor saxophone
Hunter Diamond – tenor saxophone
Matt Ulery – bass
Neil Hemphill – drums
North Coast Brewing is proud to partner with The Whistler and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz in support of jazz education. The Brewery makes a donation to the Institute for every bottle of Brother Thelonious Belgian Style Abbey Ale sold. Like a Belgian “Dark Strong Ale,” this beer is rich and robust with an ABV of 9.4%. The package features a label picturing the jazz master himself, and comes in 750 ml bottles with a traditional cork and wire finish, as well as 12 oz. 4-packs.
