Every Sunday, The Whistler and North Coast Brewing team up to present our favorite jazz artists at The Patron Saint of Jazz series.
- Jeff Kier — piano, compositions
- Mike Hershenson — guitar
- Lanny Grilly — drums
The Trio performs pianist Jeff Kier’s jazz compositions. Mark Stevens, a San Francisco DJ, commented, “Jeff was emerging as one of the great composers of our time.” Their last CD, Goin’ Places! by Jeff Kier & The Grilly Brothers, on the BluJazz label, was Grammy Recognized in 2009.
Their current show combines Jeff’s indelible melodies and the band’s unique fusion of solid grooves and seductive world-rhythms. The group members have a long history in Jazz and have played or shared the stage with such notables as Ahmad Jamal, Mose Allison, Willie Pickens, Henry Johnson, Chuck Webb, Henry Johnson, Michael Arnopol, Steve Hashimoto, James Sanders, Fareed Haque, Nick Drozdoff, Ben Taylor, Brian Sandstrom, Rafe Bradford, Edo Castro, Oscar “Bobo” Brown III… just to just name a few. Also, much of Jeff Kier’s music has been scored for both Symphony & Jazz Orchestras.
