Cosmograph is a new group led by saxophonist/composer Will Barnard. The music is inspired by space and space travel and informed by jazz and funk traditions.
Born from the ashes of a former hip-hop band, New Context rose as a groove-forward jazz project. The Chicago-based four-piece explores the corner between avante garde and Soulquarians-era backbeats, drawing inspiration from torchbearers like the Robert Glasper Experiment and Christian Scott. The unit is led by drummer Ryan Lehrman and features the illustrious MC BeeKay.
