The Whistler storefront gallery showcases art installations, with a focus on three-dimensional works by local artists. In February-March 2019, we have featured two rotating neon pieces from Chicago-based musician/DJ/artist Dave Mata.
Mata designed these two pieces as a way to dispel negativity from his life and put a series of unfortunate happenings behind him. The skull is meant to ward off evil and protect the owner from harm, and the tombstone is self-explanatory.
On Thursday, March 28th, join Mata and Royal Hands for the Closing Party of the installation. The storefront theme will bleed into the Whistler interior space for an immersive experience based around the idea of leaving bad energy in your past. Custom Bad Times RIP glassware will be handed out to the first 25 guests, as well as other special surprise giveaways. Music will be provided by all vinyl DJ sets from Dave Mata, Anthony Abbinanti, Ben Fasman, Daniel Villarreal-Carrillo and Fess Grandiose. Drink specials supported by Campari.
