Glad Cloud celebrates the rich landscape of Chicago musicians working with ambient music, be it acoustic, electric, or both. Curated by Benjamin Mjolsness, the series provides an opportunity for ambient artists to colour the air, walls, and liquids of the Whistler in a deliberately non-intrusive manner. Visitors enjoy their cocktails and companions while the music envelops the room around them; performing artists are able to work on new approaches to their music. 8-10pm.
This week’s performer: Jonathan Krohn. Jonathan is a graphic designer and co-founder of the Chicago group Male. He is currently the Designer in Residence at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is developing his own printing and publishing press - The Center for Book Technology - which will focus on small edition texts of curated content. Male is finishing work on it’s second full length LP, due out on Other Electricities in Spring 2010. Jonathan will be joined during the second set by Male band mate, Benjamin Mjolsness.
