Glad Cloud celebrates the rich landscape of Chicago musicians working with ambient music, be it acoustic, electric, or both. Curated by Benjamin Mjolsness, Glad Cloud provides an opportunity for ambient artists to colour the air, walls, and liquids of the Whistler in a deliberately non-intrusive manner. Visitors enjoy their cocktails and companions while the music envelops the room around them; performing artists are able to work on new approaches to their music.
Performing this week: Drone Baez. Hailing from the basement and apartment venues of Chicago, Drone Baez rose to the pinnacle of the pop scene in 2008 with their debut album, as yet no release date for an upcoming album has been set, however one is in the works… The band’s latest album, the forth coming album has not yet been named, mixes Drone Baez’s easily digested & granular melodies with effervescent glitch work to concoct a solid record chock full of teenage anthems. With standout tracks like “Ghost Pigeon,” already certified platinum in Europe, Drone Baez can count on loads of future success.
Glad Cloud is every other Saturday from 8-10pm
