Local indie-rockers Simple Machines and dream-pop band Star Tropics play at the Whistler.
 
Simple Machines are Jason Angone (drums), Mike Baker (guitars, keyboards), Patrick Westley Hiller (vocals, guitars, keys), Connor Lynch (bass), and Samir Merchant (guitars). The band was formed in Chicago in 2009 and has been hard at work writing original music ever since. They would describe their style as alternative Brit-rock with a catchy pop flavour. Their first EP, Spirit of the Shoreland, was launched on the 4th of December 2011 and is available for download at their Bandcamp.
