Stars Align is a monthly concert series (and sometimes podcast) that brings together musicians for a one-off collaboration. You’ll hear everything from re-imagined, stripped-down versions each others songs to completely new and improvised pieces.
Dassit is a six-piece that illustrates how head-bobbing hip-hop and lush, improvisatory jazz can co-exist effortlessly. Led by saxophonist Simon Dufour and rapper Keith Harris, Dassit is on the forefront of the live-band hip-hop scene in Chicago. Fans of A Tribe Called Quest and Miles Davis alike will find something to cherish in Dassit’s music.
The 24 year- old vocalist and Chicago native Meagan McNeal has surprised crowds in a similar fashion as she did when she a child. Over the summer of 2009, she was in California working as an intern for Hidden Beach Recordings working at the label which include such greats as Jill Scott, Al B Sure, and Kindred. Meagan got to show her talent in perhaps the pinnacle of her internship experience when she performed at the Key Club in Hollywood.
Launching her solo career in 2007, she has opened for Will I AM, John B, Sam Jenkins, The Velvelettes of the legendary Motown Records, and also has brought her angelic and commanding voice to countless of people throughout the Kalamazoo area.
Meagan, an up and coming artist who is in the process of working on her debut solo album sings songs of love, peace and self discovery. She believes that music is her gift but motivating people to pursue their dreams is her passion.
An eclectic mix of genres including Neo Soul, Jazz, and R&B, The album “MINDSET” is available on iTunes, Amazon and Cd Baby . According to McNeal, portrays life in all its splendor, from its roadblocks to its successes and also has surprise collaborations with a few of the many artists she has networked with over her highly productive and growing career.
